The New Avengers

I was just watching the New Averngers, and I'm really disapointed. For me they have always the same plot - just the first episodes are little bit different, but the last are very violent and there is a lot of shooting.
I think they avengers were something special because of their funny sciencefiction plot and the typical british humour. But this you don't find in The New Avengers. Well, Steed is fantastic like he was before, also Purdey and Gambit take a fresh atmosphere to the sereies but the storys are not my taste - it seems that they have tried to make the episodes up to date - but this wasn't the best decision...

Emma Peel

The most popular Avenger-girl...I don't know what I should tell about her. Everybody knows her - if anybody hears "The Avenegers" the connect it with Emma Peel. It's a shame, that Diana Rigg is just known as Emma Peel - in England it's something different, but in Austria and I think also in other countries they don't know her well.
Emma Peel created a special flair at "The Avengers". She was very beautiful, strong and brave - she was more man-like in character than any other Avenger girl. Her clothes of course are very lady like - but her hobbys aren't. I think she is a typical woman who can get on well with men - much better than with women.
She isn't afraid of anything and she is always enthusiastic. It is fun to watch her. I think every girl wants to be like Emma Peel.
Without her "The Avengers" won't be such a success - I'm sure - if they hadn't gave her the job there wouldn't be all these wounderful avenger-series.
I just feel sorry for the other avenger-girls - they are all fantastic in their own way - but they are all compared with Emma Peel and it isn't easy to fit the bill like she did.

Cathy Gale

In my opinion, Cathy Gale is often underestimated. She was a really good partner of Steed, but the problem is, that these episodes aren't available in other languages and the qualitiy isn't the best. It's very difficult for me to understand the english episodes. But I think she did a great job.

Cathy has a special charakter. She is, of course, very self-confident, but very different from Emma Peel. She is more quiet and distanced. But she is accepted by Steed and other men. Her clothes aren't as sey as Emma Peel cloths, but this doesn't matter. She is beautiful, although she wears longer skirts and coats.

For me she is just perfect, and I sometimes feel very sorry for her, because she started "The Avengers" we know today. But most of the time, people just remember Emma Peel - of course Diana was fantastic - but it was not alone her job to make the Avengers to THE Avengers :)

Linda Thorson in an interview about her relationship with steed:
"A woman, who spend so much time with a man must be in love with him. There are many scenes where Tara stay overnight..."

For her it was absolutely clear, that Tara and Steed are in love and also have sex.

My TOP 5

Here I have a list of my top 5 series from the avengers/new avengers:

1. The forget-me-knot
--> The last episode with Emma Peel, for me it was so sad...and why didn't they kisss goodbye!!! just a small kiss on the cheek :(

2. Who is who?
--> the only time when you see Steed and Emma kissing...but these are not the real "avengers" :)

3. The little wonders
--> another kissing scene, i love it, every men should kiss like Steed :)

4. Invsasion of the earthmen
--> i like the final scene: steed and tara are practicing judo...tara asks: what are we doing now? Steed. practice! (his voice is telling that he means another type of practice :) uhh)

5. Mr. Teddy Bear
--> for all Steedfans the best scene: his white underwear...sexy :) and a funny scene with Cathy, when they are fighting at the floor.
